Lakewood Park in Dallas / Review and safety rating
Overall Grade: A (20 points/ 24 points)
+ Numerous trees
+ Modern pavilion
+ Walking trail
- Older playground
- Small amounts of litter
Find refuge from the summer sun at the well-shaded Lakewood Park. Set back off of busy Williamson Road in East Dallas, Lakewood Park is a suitable destination for active families seeking a bit of nature in the heart of the city. Numerous trees offer shade while a creek provides the ambience. (Just be sure to bring your bug spray.) Consisting of two play structures, the Lakewood Park playground has everything from a giant caterpillar for climbing to an almost scary-steep slide to the always-essential swings. Be sure to bring your lunch; you’ll want to check out the pavilion, which has a contemporary twist. Lakewood Park earned an A* on DallasChild’s Safety Report Card. While one of the play structures appears a bit worse for wear from years of use, it still met the criteria for a safe and fun playground. 7143 Williamson Rd., Dallas.
