Alison Viktorin is certainly not a little boy, though she often plays the voice of one on TV. But the 30-year-old voice-over and commercial actress is proudest of her most recent regular role: Mom. Two years ago, following a tough pregnancy, she gave birth to son Cyrus, 2. In addition to motherhood and a career in showbiz, this bubbly Texan channels her energy toward antique shopping and her position as hospitality leader of a local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. Viktorin grew up in Argyle and currently lives in Euless with her son, her husband and two fabulous dogs.

EXACTLY WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU DO?
I do voice-over commercials on TV, on the radio and industrial work for companies. I do cartoons, mostly little boy voices. It’s really weird because when I was in fourth grade, I loved The Simpsons, and when I found out a girl did Bart Simpson, I couldn’t watch anymore! What’s weird is, since I had Cyrus, I’m doing more on-camera stuff. Before I had him, mostly everything was voice work. Maybe I have more wisdom now—that worldly, motherly charm.

WHERE WOULD WE KNOW YOU FROM …
Some moms might know the cartoon, BOZ the Bear—I was the voice of Drew.

IS YOUR HUSBAND IN A SIMILAR FIELD? IS HE EQUALLY GREGARIOUS?
My husband [Dustin Viktorin] is an accountant. He keeps me grounded. He’s very quiet and very low-key. I’m off the charts hyper and eccentric!

HOW TOUGH WAS YOUR PREGNANCY?
I went into pre-term labor at 19 weeks. From then on, it was constant contractions every eight minutes. I was on bed rest the whole time. It was like jail!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR TEXAS ROOTS

[I’m originally] from Houston. We moved every single year until I was 11, and from then on we lived in Argyle. I moved to California for college [California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks] and now I’m back [in Texas, living in Euless]!

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS?

I started acting when I was 13. On my very first audition, I got a voice-over. I beat out one of the girls on Barney.

DO YOU WANT CYRUS TO FOLLOW IN YOUR ACTING FOOTSTEPS?
No, no! I want him to do something stable without rejection. [Acting is] such a roller coaster … sometimes you’re really hot and in demand, and other times it’s like a dry desert and no one wants you. It’s just the [nature of the] business.

HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK AND MOTHERHOOD?

If I have auditions during the day, I drop [Cyrus] off with my husband … so I can focus on the job at hand. For my voice work, I work at night so he’s already asleep. I try to organize everything so it’s the least amount of stress for me.

PERSONAL MOTTO?

Accept myself so I can accept others.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PASTIME:

I love TV! I love The Real Housewives-–all of them! I don’t care if they’re real or not … even if they’re scripted, I love the script.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLAYDATE VENUE?

Cyrus loves to go to the Grapevine Botanical Gardens and help the gardeners plant flowers for each season. They're very kind and let him participate! It's a beautiful park with a koi fish pond, playground and areas to learn about the plants.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FAMILY TRADITIONS?

My husband grew up in Freeport, Texas, near Surfside Beach. We rent a beach house every year and go there for a week so that we can see where his daddy grew up. When I was growing up, we used to go there with my family. Now it’s nice that I can continue that tradition.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT TEXAS?

I love the clouds—they’re so beautiful. You never notice it when you’re here, but when you go away and come back, look at the clouds. And the thunder and lightning—the beauty of those things is amazing in Texas.

DO YOU HAVE ANY BEAUTY RITUALS?

I love skin care products and makeup. That’s my favorite thing to do—when I get to sit down at my vanity and pamper myself. I like Korres skin care from Greece. I love Urban Decay’s glitter eyeliner. And I really love Avon lipstick.

ANY FAVORITE PIECE OF JEWELRY?

I love all of my jewelry—it’s the same as makeup to me. Anything that’s glittery or gold!

WHAT PART OF THE DAY DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST?

I like the morning because that’s when I have the most energy, and Cyrus and I, we like to cuddle in my bed in the morning and watch cartoons. One show and one show only—and he calls it “Hot Dog”—The Mickey Mouse Club.

FAVORITE GIFT YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?

A painting from a New Orleans artist [Alan B. Minor] that my husband got for me. It’s a beautiful plantation house with a lady in one of the upstairs windows … it would be like my dream house, so I call it “Lady in the Window, aka Me!”

MOST PRIZED POSSESSIONS … CARE TO MENTION A FEW?

My dogs—they’re my babies. I have a French bulldog [Ralphina Bella] and a supermodel chihuahua [Luka Francesca]. She’s not a normal chihuahua—she’s really tall and thin. She’s everything that I’ve always dreamed about being!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES?

Fried Green Tomatoes, Bird on a Wire

WHERE DO YOU GO FOR DATE NIGHTS?

Addison Improv, La Duni in Dallas

FAVORITE FORT WORTH HOT SPOT?

Texas Motor Speedway

ANY PREFERRED SHOPPING HAUNTS?

Southlake—my second home. Anthropologie is my favorite stores, as well as Nordstrom Rack. I just love being in Southlake—the people, all of it.
