Want to gaze down from the highest peak in the Dallas area (or just say you’ve been there, done that)? Put on your walking shoes and climb to an elevation of 755 feet at this nature preserve—it’s Dallas’ own little slice of Hill Country! Hikers young and old can observe native trees, flowers, birds and other wildlife along the way. The trails aren’t stroller friendly, so you’ll want to wait to explore the park when your adventuresome brood can walk on their own. Check out the Preserve’s Web site prior to visiting and plan your route on one of the trail maps (making it as long or short as you desire; the park offers about 9 miles of trails).
